This policy lays out the rules around tuition fees, payments, program changes, cancellations and refunds.
Tuition Fee Payment Plans
You will have three payment plans for your booking.
- Full Payment Upfront
- Two part installment plan
- Monthly Payment plan
You will be asked which plan you prefer when you enroll.
Full Payment
This plan incurs no additional fees.

If your online and or international fieldwork component start is less than 30 days and 90 days away respectively, then your Enrollment Manager will inform you of your payment schedule.
Monthly installment plan
A payment plan fee of $300 applies if you choose this option

Pay an installment every month. 40% of your tuition fee is due 30 days before you start your first online course. 60% of your tuition fee is due 90 days before your fieldwork start date or no later than 16 weeks after your scheduled online course end date, whichever date is first. The size of the installments in both Payment Schedules partly depends on how much time there is before you start the online component and when you start your international fieldwork component. You will receive a payment schedule with your payment amounts and their respective due dates when you confirm your booking.
Tax Deduction
Please note that payments for UC Irvine Impact Academy Programs are not tax deductible.
Late Payments
Failure to make payment on their due date may incur a late payment fee of $100. Should your payment not be received within 7 days of your payment due date, UC Irvine Impact Academy reserves the right to cancel your program, without a refund.
Payment Methods
We accept payments by credit card. This gives you the convenience of automatic deduction of your dues on each payment date.
Alternatively, if you select the Full Payment Upfront option then you can pay by check.
An alternative payment method is via electronic money transfer directly into our bank account. You’ll be sent payment reminders via email, but will be responsible for remembering to make the transfer yourself.
Scholarships and Other Funding
You may opt to seek funding or scholarship opportunities to pay for your program. Where we agree to this, you shall remain responsible for payment of any monies due to us and will be liable for any outstanding fees in the event you cancel without having paid for your program in full. You will also only be eligible to start your program once your funder or scholarship has made full payment to us.
Program Changes and Cancellations
Changes to your online component
In some cases you can make changes to the start date of the online component of your program. Depending on when you make your request, there may be fees for the change.

Changes less than 7 days before your online start date will not be permitted.
Important point: Changing your start date does not affect your payment schedule. Your original payment schedule and due dates for your payments will not be modified.
If you are changing your start date owing to affordability issues, then you must contact us and make a specific request for a concession. Concessions will be considered on their merits on a case-by-case basis.
Changes to format
There are three formats for the online component.
- Standard – completed over 8 weeks
- Full-time – completed over 4 weeks
- Part-time – completed over 16 weeks
You can change the format of your program in some cases. There may be fees for the change depending on when you make your request and your current format.

- $350 format fee when changing from Standard format to Full-time or to Part-time
- No format fee when changing from Full-time to Standard or from Part-time to Standard
Only changes in assignment schedule submission can be made after Course 1 has started.
Important: Format changes do not affect your payment schedule. Your original payment schedule and due dates for your payments will not be modified.
Changes to your program’s subject area
You can change your subject area in some cases. There may be fees for making this change depending on when you make your request.

You can select a different subject area up to 90 days before the online component of your program’s start date at no cost. Changes made between 89 and 30 days before the online component’s start date incur a $350 fee.
Changes to your fieldwork component
In some cases you can make changes to the start date of the fieldwork component of your program. Depending on when you make your request, there may be fees for the change.

Changes to the international fieldwork component of your program will only be permitted at our discretion, this includes your start date, field format or location.
Any changes are subject to availability and we will confirm any transfers in writing.

Cancellation and Refunds
PLEASE NOTE: All program fees are non-refundable upon payment. Please read the relevant sections below.
If you have an emergency and need to go home during the international fieldwork part you will not be eligible for a refund. UC Irvine Impact Academy may, at its discretion, allow you to complete your fieldwork at a later date, but this cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to an additional fee.
If you cancel at any stage without having paid for your program in full, you remain liable for the outstanding fees.
Where we cancel the international fieldwork component of your program
Our first recourse will be to move you to a different international fieldwork location or start date. Where this is not possible your program fees will remain non-refundable and you will receive a credit for the amount you have paid to use towards an alternative start date or destination valid for 3 years. Credit will be issued to you, as the student, and use of your credit will be subject to fieldwork availability. We reserve the right to provide alternative locations. Credit is non transferable and not redeemable for cash. If you have already completed the online coursework of the program you will receive a transcript for the online program.
Where we curtail the international fieldwork component of your program
In cases of curtailment, your first recourse will be to claim the balance of your program fee from your insurance. In the event the reason for curtailment is not covered by insurance, we will provide a credit in the amount of your unused program fee which can be used to complete your fieldwork at a later date. The credit amount will be calculated based upon the services that have been rendered to date, not a pro-rata amount. Credit will be issued to you, as the student, and use of your credit will be subject to fieldwork availability. We reserve the right to provide alternative locations. Credit is non transferable and not redeemable for cash.
In all cases of cancellation or curtailment by us, we will not refund you for any expenses incurred by you related to your fieldwork, including, but not limited to, airfare, visa expenses, insurance, documentation and equipment purchases. Please note this list is not exhaustive.
Where you chose to cancel your online program or fieldwork component
Where you chose to cancel your online program or fieldwork component, you will not be eligible for any refund.
In the event that you have completed your online course, but cancel your fieldwork component, you will only be eligible to receive a certificate for the online program.
